Reports have been surfacing for the past few hours that TYPE O NEGATIVE frontman PETER STEELE has died. Steele, the towering frontman of the New York-based band, was thought to have died previously after a 2005 message on the band's website featured a photo of a tombstone bearing his name.

The now-notorious incident lead to numerous media reports of his demise, thus the rumors of his death last night were met with skepticism by many, including those of us at Kik Axe.

Sadly, the news of his passing this time looks to be true with FUSE Host Mistress Juliya taking to Twitter with several messages confirming the news. According to Juliya, Steele died of heart failure.

Larry King seeks 8th divorce

A spokesman for King, 76, said the CNN broadcaster filed for divorce from Shawn Southwick, 50, with whom he has two children.
"His major concern is the welfare of his children and beyond that he'll have no further comment about the divorce," King's spokesman, Howard Rubenstein, told Reuters.
Celebrity website TMZ.com said that minutes after King's attorneys filed their court papers, lawyers for Southwick, who is a singer, also filed divorce documents in Los Angeles. TMZ said both parties were citing irreconcilable differences.
King has been married to seven different women, but this is his eighth divorce, because he remarried one of his former spouses and then later divorced her.
The broadcaster hosts "Larry King Live" on CNN, where he interviews political figures and celebrities.

The China Earthquake Administration announced the initial death toll in a brief statement on its Web site, saying that Wednesday's quake had caused many houses to collapse.
Rescue efforts were hindered by telecommunications problems, with phone lines down.

BEIJING (AP) — A series of strong earthquakes struck China's western Qinghai province Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. There were no immediate reports of casualties in the remote rural area, though witnesses described houses quickly crumbling.

The USGS reported on its Web site that a magnitude 6.9 temblor struck an area in southern Qinghai, near Tibet, on Wednesday morning and was followed by two quakes in the same region.

The quake hit the county of Yushu, a Tibetan area in Qinghai, the official Xinhua News Agency cited the China Earthquake Networks Center as saying. The Chinese center measured the quake's magnitude at 7.1. A local government Web site put the county's population in 2005 at 89,300, a community of mostly herders and farmers.

The quake sent residents fleeing as it toppled many houses made of mud and wood, said Gasong Nima, the Yushu county television station's deputy head of news, speaking by phone with state broadcaster CCTV.

"In a flash, the houses went down. It was a terrible earthquake," the witness said. "In a small park, there is a Buddhist tower and the top of the tower fell off.
"Everybody is out on the streets, standing in front of their houses, trying to find their family members," he said, adding that school buildings had not collapsed but students had been evacuated and were assembled in outdoor playgrounds.
The epicenter of the first quake was located 235 miles (380 kilometers) south-southeast of Golmud, a large city in Qinghai, at a depth of six miles (10 kilometers), the USGS said.

Ten minutes later, the area was hit by a magnitude 5.3 quake, which was followed after two minutes by a temblor measuring 5.2, according to the U.S. agency. Both the subsequent earthquakes were measured at a depth of 6 miles (10 kilometers).

Calls to the local Communist Party office and the government of Yushu county and the Qinghai provincial seismological bureau rang unanswered.
In 2008, a magnitude-7.9 quake in Sichuan province left almost 90,000 people dead or missing.

Goodell summoned Roethlisberger after a Georgia DA declined to prosecute him for an alleged sexual assault.
The NFL may consider imposing discipline on Roethlisberger. Spokesman Greg Aiello said the league will review the facts of the case and then consider what action is needed, based on the league's personal-conduct policy.
Aiello did not identify a timeline for when a decision might be made.

"Oprah and I were cub reporters in Nashville nearly 40 years ago and we dated for a short time," Tesh told the News, which first reported the story on Sunday.

The odd pairing is revealed in Kitty Kelley's "Oprah," which hits bookshelves Tuesday.

Exclusive excerpts obtained by the News said Winfrey and the New Age musician were live-in-lovers during the 1970s when they both lived in Nashville.

The book claims Tesh bolted in the middle of the night because of the "social pressure" of being half of an interracial couple.

Back in February, Opera announced that it was completing work on a version of its browser for the iPhone and that it planned to submit it to Apple for approval and distribution. The move was widely seen as risky, since Apple has, in the past, been dodgy on the subject of whether browsers that aren't built on Mobile Safari's underlying technology would be allowed on its iPhone OS platform.
However, Opera Mini had several things going for it: for example, it's not a full-fledged client-side app, relying instead on Opera's own server-side functionality to handle much of the content rendering and manipulation tasks, including interpreting and executing JavaScript code, which would otherwise be against App Store policies.
Opera's announcement that it has submitted the browser to Apple for approval on March 23 was, unsurprisingly, met with a fair amount of skepticism; in a bit of App Store mockery, the company even set up a web page to keep track of the amount of time during which the app had been in the approval process. The final tally: a little less than three weeks.
A free download, Opera Mini works on all iPhone OS devices running version 2.2.1 of the operating system or higher.

Microsoft is going after social communicators with a new class of phone called Kin, which will focus on people who share and communicate through social networks.
Two phones, Kin One and Kin Two, will launch in May on Verizon Wireless. The phones, both sliders, are built off the Windows Phone 7 platform but have been designed with a new user interface built specifically for status updates, sharing pictures and videos, local search and music.
The Kin phones will feature Kin Loop, a home page populated with your friends' status updates. You can also update your status for multiple sites with one touch. This is reminiscent of Motorola's Motoblur service for Android phones.
For sharing information, there's a Kin Spot at the bottom of the screen. You just drag any pictures, videos or Web pages to the spot and then drag contacts to the spot. Kin will then automatically share that content with those people.
Kin also will be the first Microsoft phones to include the Zune music player so you can listen to and watch your favorite stuff. You can also browse the Zune Marketplace.
One of the coolest things is Kin Studio. It's a Web site that backs up all your data on your Kin phone and organizes it into a timeline so you can go back and relive all your memories, whether messages, pictures or videos. Pictures are geo-tagged, and you can also use the same Kin Spot to share content with friends.
The phones also take pictures to another level. They feature 5- and 8-megapixel cameras, respectively, with the Kin 2 able to record in high-definition. They also come with superbright flashes.

Because of a calf injury, Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has postponed Tuesday's attempt to break the record for hitting a baseball the farthest.
Rollins, who had hit a home run 424 feet before, was going to use a souped-up bat to try to break Babe Ruth's record of 576 feet. Forming a partnership with two university sports science and physics professors and using state-of-the-art equipment, Rollins was going to make his attempt in downtown Philadelphia.
"I am deeply sorry for having to postpone tomorrow's Ball Park Cranks due to the calf injury I sustained prior to today's game," Rollins said. "I am confident we will be able reschedule this amazing event and break some records."

A strong earthquake struck near the Spanish city of Granada early Monday, but at a depth that made damage to the medieval Moorish capital unlikely, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck at 12:08 a.m. local time Monday (6:08 p.m. Sunday ET), the USGS reported.
It was centered about 24 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of Granada and about 370 kilometers (230 miles) south of Madrid, Spain's capital.
There was no immediate report of damage or injuries from the temblor. The quake's recorded depth of 616 kilometers -- nearly 400 miles -- means little damage is likely, geophysicist Susan Potter told CNN.
"When an earthquake is deeper, the seismic energy is absorbed by the Earth," Potter said. "So there will be less damage expected in the epicenter area."

Recently at a press conference on Thursday, Apple disclosed the features of the iPhone OS 4.0 which were presumed and predicted a while back only. So the news did not come as a surprising factor.

The most significant feature of the iPhone OS 4.0 is its user interface. Features like multitasking, folder applications, new gaming applications, the e-reading software for the iBooks and the platform to advertising are just the added ones which was quite expected from the release of the updated version of iPhone.
The multitasking facility hasn’t yet received a benchmark for not reducing the battery life, though speculations are in the air that it does not lessen the battery life.

The major problem with the Apple devices is that they still rely on the iTunes for every small thing like that of transferring of files, syncing etc.
It still has not been autonomous and attained those capabilities to deal with it independently. In the conference, all the modifications and new infused features were not revealed; it may be minute in action but can prove out to be lot more beneficial lately. Nuclear Summit Opens Monday

The nation's capital is gearing up for a very busy couple of days. President Obama opens a summit on nuclear security Monday with dozens of world leaders scheduled to attend. Mr. Obama said Sunday that he was pleased by their sense of urgency and warned that al Qaeda wouldn't hesitate to use a nuclear weapon if it could.

In Washington, security has been stepped up at hotels, embassies and meeting sites of the nuclear security summit. With 47 governments attending, it's thought to be the biggest gathering of world leaders ever in the nation's capital.

Sunday, President Obama met one-on-one with leaders from several nations, including India and Pakistan; both have nuclear weapons.

Top administration officials appeared on news talk shows to promote the summit's focus on securing nuclear materials - the so-called "loose nukes."

By one estimate there's enough weapons usable nuclear material to build more than 120,000 nuclear bombs.

The big fear is that terrorists could get their hands on some of it. The threat is examined in a new documentary about nuclear weapons, "Nuclear Tipping Point."

"Terrorist groups like al Qaeda - but not limited to al Qaeda - are seeking this nuclear material and would like to make a weapon," former senator and nuclear security expert Sam Nunn says in the documentary. "They've said so and I believe them."

Not invited to the summit are countries perceived as dangerous or uncooperative such as Iran which is trying to build a nuclear weapon, and North Korea, which has nuclear warheads.

But, "This administration can't address the Iran and North Korea threats alone," said Corey Hinderstein of the Nuclear Threat Initiative. "They have to build an international consensus."

Hinderstein says that's just what the two-day summit will help do.

Analysts say president Obama is not on track to fulfill his campaign pledge of securing all loose nuclear material by the end of his first term, but this summit is a key milestone along the way.

Protesters defiant after deadly clashes in Bangkok

Anti-government protesters in Bangkok said they would not negotiate an end to violence in the Thai capital after savage clashes between activists and soldiers killed at least 18 people and injured more than 800 overnight.
Earlier today thousands of Red Shirt protesters swarmed back into an area that had briefly been taken by government forces last night. Bullet casings, rocks and pools of blood littered the streets as protesters showed off a pile of weapons captured from the troops, including rifles and heavy calibre machine-gun rounds.
“There is no more negotiation. Red Shirts will never negotiate with murderers,” a key protest leader, Jatuporn Prompan, announced from a makeshift stage. “Although the road is rough and full of obstacles, it's our duty to honour the dead by bringing democracy to this country.”
Hopes had been expressed that the two sides would come to the negotiating table after the worst violence in Bangkok since four dozen people were killed in a 1992 anti-military protest. The United States has urged both sides to show restraint.

The death toll rose during the night although the fighting, some of it in well-known tourist areas, had ended after the security forces pulled back late on Saturday and urged the red shirts to do the same.
Thai troops had fired rubber bullets and tear gas at thousands of demonstrators, who fought back with guns, grenades and petrol bombs near the Phan Fah bridge and Rajdumnoen Road in Bangkok's old quarter, a base for the month-old protest.
